Thank you for visiting Birts Equity & Inclusion Solutions, DEI consulting firm. We partner with leaders across different social sectors to ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion foregrounds the mission, priorities, goals, and outcomes of organizations. Birts Equity and Inclusion Solutions recognize that we each carry identities, histories, and experiences that shape our outlook on life and how we show up different spaces. Too often, people of color, women, and LGBTQ persons have to leave their identities at the door before entering work-spaces. 

At Birts Equity and Inclusion Solutions, we feel a strong sense of urgency to increase awareness for the value of creating and maintaining inclusive environments. Our services focus on upholding the dignity and worth of people and fostering a sense of belonging in communities.

We  utilize a long-term strategic approach with our clients. Our goal is to create a customized process that works effectively within each organization’s history, culture, mission, and vision. We focus on building on the strengths that lay at the individual and organizational levels.

IMPLEMENTATION OF DIVERSITY TASKFORCE

Supports the creation and implementation of a Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce as an external consultant, bringing together members of an organization who will:
  • Develop your company's diversity mission statement;
  • and meet monthly to discuss, communicate, and create collaborations in ongoing and upcoming efforts and events that support the goal of enhancing the environment for diversity, inclusion, equity, and cultural competency across your company;
  • As events, occurrences, and incidents occur (at state-wide or national levels), the committee will serve as a resource for teaching and learning, and organizing opportunities that facilitate advocacy for members within the organization.
  • Participation in the committee is voluntary, and individuals have a choice to participate in the committee. 

WORKSHOPS & TRAININGS

We design, develop, and deliver workshops to educate professionals and promote their application of diversity, social justice, and cultural competency principles in their areas of responsibility. Our current workshops include:
  1. Getting Started: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion 
  2. Culture, Cultural Identities, and Cultural Competencies: A Baseline Understanding 
  3. Effective Strategies for Fostering Inclusion in the Workplace: Race, Identity, and Intersectionality
  4. On Gender, Sexuality, and Language
  5. Preventing Harassment: Sex, Gender Expression, Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity
  6. Racial Equity and Inclusion
  7. Affinity Groups: What, Why, and How?
  8. Black Student Engagement in Primary and Secondary Education: Examining the Relationship Between the Student and the Learning Environment
  9. Building and Becoming Yourself: Adolescent Identity Development 

STRATEGIC PLANNING

We engage executive/senior leadership teams in building a multi-year road map to achieve their goals, which includes but is not limited to:
  • Performing a SWOT analysis; 
  • developing SMART goals; 
  • creating a strategic diversity plan that aligns with the mission and values of each organization;
  • analyzing results from climate surveys,
  • and measuring goals and outcomes.​
